n8n released version 3.0.1 on October 28, 2026. The update is a bug-fix release that touches both the core engine and the visual editor. The published release notes list eight fixes and no new features.

On the core side, the release keeps the ExpressionError name in minified builds, so expression errors remain identifiable after minification. It also keeps undefined values in QuickJS expression results, which affects what downstream steps receive when an expression evaluates to nothing.

Editor changes make up most of the list. The release improves first load speed, aligns carets within split buttons, and matches the colors of the Evals Run Test button. It also removes underlines from breadcrumb and Data Table links, and it stops Safari from opening its own context menu when users right-click on the canvas.

Why it matters

Expressions control how data moves between nodes, so the core fixes can change whether existing automations behave as expected. The editor changes are smaller in scope, but faster first loads help teams that open large workflows throughout the day. The Safari fix removes a conflict that could get in the way of canvas editing for Safari users.

What to do

Teams running an earlier version of n8n 3.x should review the notes and plan an upgrade to 3.0.1. Test workflows that depend on undefined expression results in a staging environment before updating production. Confirm the upgrade path and any deployment-specific steps on n8n’s official website, because the release notes summarized here do not cover them.
