Cursor Lets Teams Build and Share Live Apps From a Prompt
Cursor can now build, host, and share live web apps from a prompt, giving teams a faster path from idea to working internal tool.
Cursor has added a way to build live apps directly in the editor and share them with a link. The company says agents have lowered the cost of writing code, but most apps and tools users build never make it off localhost.
Users describe what they want, and Cursor handles the rest. To start, a user kicks off a cloud agent and says they want to build an app. Cursor scaffolds the web app, spins up a Postgres database if needed, sets up authentication behind Cursor SSO, and provisions hosting. If the app needs to reach systems such as a data warehouse, Cursor asks for the secrets it needs. When publishing, the user picks a unique domain and gets a live link. Apps can be deployed from new or existing repos across Cursor Origin and GitHub, and support for other git providers such as GitLab is coming soon.
Cursor says people in sales, operations, legal, finance, and engineering are already building internal apps, including event registration tools, customer presentations, onboarding experiences, pipeline dashboards, and portals for engineering services.
Why it matters
Internal tools often stall before anyone else can use them, and this feature targets that gap by handling hosting, databases, and login in one flow. Publishing also comes with safeguards. Cursor runs security checks for issues such as exposed credentials, and nothing goes live until those checks pass and the user explicitly publishes. Admins can see every app and secret on their team and unpublish any of them.
What to do
Update Cursor to try the feature. Confirm pricing, plan availability, and current git provider support on Cursor’s website, since the release notes do not cover those details.
