Anthropic has renamed its two top Claude consumer plans. The former Max 5x plan is now called Max and costs $100 a month. The former Max 20x plan is now called Ultra and costs $200 a month. Anthropic’s help center says existing Max 20x subscribers move to Ultra automatically, with no price change, and that there is nothing they need to do.

The bigger change applies to verified Ultra accounts, which have no five-hour limit. Accounts that are not yet verified get a temporary limit. Anthropic says it verifies Ultra accounts automatically using factors such as account and payment history. Phone verification at checkout does not remove the limit.

The pricing page lists Ultra at 10x Pro usage every week, Fable access at 50% of weekly limits, and $200 a month in API credits, up from $100 on Max. StackVersus previously listed Max 20x as 20x the Pro five-hour allowance, because Anthropic had not published a weekly multiple. The new page publishes that weekly figure, so our earlier listing no longer matches the vendor’s wording.

Why it matters

Heavy users have planned their work around session windows, and removing the five-hour cap for verified accounts changes that math. The published weekly multiple also gives buyers a clearer basis for comparing tiers. Competitors are moving too. OpenAI reportedly announced on 2026-10-29 doubled limits on ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, plus a shared ChatGPT and Codex allowance starting in December. StackVersus has not yet verified that announcement.

What to do

Open Settings > Usage on your account. If you see no Current session bar, your account is verified and the five-hour limit does not apply. If the bar appears, verification is still pending, so confirm your status before relying on Ultra for long sessions. Check Anthropic’s pricing page for current prices and limits, and follow StackVersus’s Claude limits page and dated changes log for updates.
