Kiro meters usage in credits per user per month. A credit is a unit of work in response to user prompts; simple prompts can cost less than 1 credit, complex ones (e.g. spec tasks) more, and models consume credits at different multipliers relative to Auto (1.0x). Credits are metered to two decimal places (minimum 0.01 credits). Prompts in vibe or spec mode, spec refinement, task execution, agent hook execution and workflows all consume credits, across the IDE, CLI, Web and other interfaces. Usage limits reset at the start of each billing month and unused plan credits do not roll over; paid subscriptions are processed on the 1st of each calendar month. Paid individual plans (social login / AWS Builder ID) can buy add-on credits at $0.04 each, billed immediately, in packs from $5 (125 credits) up to $100, with up to 5 packs at a time; plan credits are used first, and add-on credits roll over until they expire 12 months after purchase. Free tier cannot buy add-on credits. Enterprise (billed through AWS) uses the same Pro/Pro+/Pro Max/Power tiers; admins can enable overages billed at $0.04 per credit at month-end, disabled by default. New users get $20 credited toward their first paid subscription (social login or Builder ID). AWS GovCloud (US) pricing is approximately 20% higher and has no Free tier.

Usage is measured in dollars across LLMs, Context Engine, and compute. Standard includes $20 of usage every month and Business includes $100, each for one flat monthly price with no per-seat charge. LLM model inference is billed at the provider's public API list price, plus a flat 40% service fee on LLM usage (no fee on compute); compute is Cosmos compute time. Included usage and top-ups are pooled across the whole team (up to 50 seats on Standard and Business). Beyond the included usage you top up as you go with no plan change; top-ups that are not part of the paid plan are valid 12 months after the date of purchase.
