What we publish

StackVersus publishes head-to-head software comparisons for people choosing between two tools. Every article answers the same questions: what each tool costs, where each one is strong or weak, and which one we would pick for which kind of user.

How articles are researched

  • Pricing, plan limits and features come from the vendors' public pricing pages and documentation. Each article links to the pages used in a Sources section.
  • Strengths and weaknesses reflect publicly available user feedback and product documentation, not private lab testing. We say so on every page.
  • Articles are drafted with the help of AI and reviewed and edited by a named editor before publishing. The editor is responsible for the content.
  • We do not invent first-person experience, test results or statistics. If an article claims something was measured, it was.

How we score

Each tool gets an editorial rating out of 5 (shown as stars and as a score out of 10). The rating is a judgement across five criteria, weighted equally. It is an estimate meant to summarise the article, not a benchmark result or an aggregate of user reviews.

CriterionWhat we look at
Ease of useOnboarding, learning curve and day-to-day friction, based on documentation and widely reported user feedback.
Core featuresHow deeply the tool covers the job it is bought for, judged against the category it competes in.
CollaborationSharing, permissions, comments and team workflows.
Performance & reliabilitySpeed, uptime history, offline and mobile support as publicly documented.
Pricing & valueRealistic yearly cost for a solo user and a small team at list prices, including what the free tier excludes.

The tool with the higher rating is marked as the overall pick. When the difference is small, the article says so and the verdict explains which kind of user should pick the runner-up.

Updates and corrections

  • Each article shows the date it was last reviewed. We re-check pricing when a vendor announces a change and aim to review every article at least twice a year.
  • If you find an outdated price or an error, email congpt.vinadic@gmail.com. Corrections are made in place and the review date is updated.
